Our Training Philosophy

The California Conservatory of Dance – Our Training Philosophy

In every class, regardless of emphasis or level, The CCD instructors approach each student as an individual on a unique path. Dancers come with a range of needs. Some want to dance only for a season. Others desire a longer commitment that requires years of careful planning and nurturing. For these dancers, the CCD’s goal is to instill a balance that can withstand the pressures and realities of a professional career.

Performing experience is an important part of any dancer’s training, and to that end, the CCD offers opportunities several times a year through the California Conservatory of Dance Ensemble. For younger students, the aim is to build readiness to enter a pre-professional instruction level that includes performing as part of training. The CCD Ensemble is a pre-professional company comprised of the most talented classical and modern students.

The California Conservatory of Dance is proud to include the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 8 level program that combines high-quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.
